Pipay

Branding · Data Analysis · Wireframing · Prototyping

Pipay is a playful digital piggy bank designed to help kids and young teens build real financial awareness without needing cash. Through a responsive pig avatar and a clear parent-child connection, Pipay turns saving, earning, and smart spending into a rewarding, personalized experience.

The Challenge

Turning Digital Coins Into Real-World Lessons

In a cashless world, it’s harder than ever for kids and teens to understand what money really means. How can we build digital habits that feel tangible, personal, and fun while still giving parents an active role in the process?

The Solution

Smart saving with emotional feedback

A fully digital piggy bank, reimagined as a customizable avatar that reacts to user behavior and grows with the user. From chores to goals, every step is visual and meaningful.

I like when I get to decide what to do with my money – feeling in control and independent.

Pain Points

  • Doesn’t fully understand how much things cost or how saving works.

  • Easily loses track of allowance or digital money when it’s abstract.

  • Traditional banking tools feel boring or “for adults”.

  • Relies on parents for money but wants more control and independence.

Goals

  • Feel more independent and in control of small purchases.

  • Learn how to set goals and save up on his own terms.

  • Understanding the value of money when money isn’t physical.

Reflection

Pipay is more than just an educational tool, it’s a way to build positive habits that last. As a designer, I wanted to show that even abstract concepts like “financial literacy” can be felt, seen and owned and that design can make something as grown-up as budgeting feel like part of growing up.
